AT&T held a media event yesterday, showcasing the Sony Xperia TL (LT30at), amongst other handsets, to the US media. The Sony Xperia TL is basically the US version of the Xperia T (LT30p) apart from the fact that it comes with LTE connectivity. A number of sites posted some initial impressions on the handset, including some hands-on videos. Check out our roundup below.
Android Central: “The TL isn’t quite as thin and light as some of its competitors, but what it lacks in sleekness it makes up for with a beautiful display — this 4.6-inch Sony HD Reality Display packs a 720 x 1280 resolution, powered by Sony’s Bravia Engine. It’s a stunner, and lands itself in the upper echelon of smartphone displays. Colors are crisp and remarkably natural, with impressive brightness and remarkable viewing angles.”
Engadget: “With a 720p HD Reality display powered by the outfit’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine, you’d expect superb readability from the handset, especially in the dim light of this event. Though colors on the panel are bright and viewing angles seem to hold up fairly well, we did take issue with its overall brightness. Even pumped up to max, the screen just seemed a bit too dark for our tastes.”
The Verge: “The focus is on the 13-megapixel rear camera, however, which shot quickly from frame to frame and the time from opening the app to taking the first shot was at least a second faster than on a Galaxy Nexus we tested against. In the dimly-lit environment of AT&T’s event tonight in New York City, shots both with and without the flash impressed with low noise.”
