Sony Ericsson has released a very basic app for the Xperia active that highlights the barometric pressure sensor feature. You don’t find a barometer in too many smartphones, it is basically used to measure altitude as well as vertical speed.
The Sony Ericsson developer team created the app to encourage developers to use the barometer feature in future applications. Such applications could combine the barometer data with GPS to determine how high you are when mountain climbing for example or paragliding.
