SE’s ICS Alpha ROM ported to Xperia arc with working GSM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Google Apps

Xperia arc ICSIt came as a big surprise to us earlier this week when Sony Ericsson released an alpha version of its Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM. However as SE has not been through the formal certification and approval processes, certain features were turned off. This included no GSM ( so you couldn’t make calls) and no Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Google apps amongst other things.
Also, this ROM was only made available on three devices (Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray). If you’re an Xperia arc owner though we’ve got some good news. Recognised xda wizard DooMLoRD has been making great progress on porting this official alpha ROM to the Xperia arc. He has managed to get calls, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Google apps working (with the help of Bin4ry, koush and tyrand3). There are also a number of add-ons that allow you to install the original ICS launcher, boot animation and on-screen buttons. This makes it much less gimped than the original Sony Ericsson alpha ROM and could be one of the complete alpha ROMs we’ve seen in a while. Check out all of the details here.
